Many modern Windows and Android tablets, smartphones, PCs and laptops include Miracast technology. Miracast is readily available in many newer devices.

For example, when you share content from your phone, that content is sent to a receiver like a wireless display adapter or Smart TV using Miracast. Miracast creates a direct connection between your Android and the display. Using Miracast technology eliminates the limitations and hassles of cables, making it a great tool for presentations or even home use. Miracast is the wireless equivalent to HDMI cables. Miracast is a wireless display standard that is used for sharing smartphone, tablet, or PC’s screen to a TV without using cables. Many Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean) or newer smartphones have a feature built into them that allows you to connect your phone to a TV or computer wirelessly.

Not the best framerate but general stability more important. So, question is, does anyone know of a wireless display solution that works well on the SP4, and that can be used with VGA in some way? Should be one that uses direct wifi, like Airplay and Miracast (which I think means it has to be Miracast), not something that needs to be on the same network (my Netgear 4G router doesn't seem to do local connections very well).ĮDIT: Bought a female-female HDMI adapter and seems that Chromecast + that + Kanex VGA adapter with 4G router as common network works decently. Microsoft's own adapter is even worse with its male HDMI plug. I have a Netgear miracast adapter, but aside from being a whole lot less stable than the Apple TV, also doesn't play well with my Kanex HDMI->VGA adapter. One of the things I've "lost" is a proper wireless display solution, where an Apple TV does a wonderful job of that on the iPad. I've gradually moved to using my SP4 more than my iPads, which is a lateral move more than anything else.
